Pamela Conley Ulich is a seasoned attorney and expert in legal and business issues across the Sports and Entertainment industries. With over a decade of teaching experience, Pamela is a respected Lecturer in Law at USC Gould School of Law, where she teaches “Dealmaking in the Entertainment Industry.”
Legal Expertise in Entertainment and Sports
Pamela launched her career in Los Angeles as Associate General Counsel for the Directors Guild of America, where she represented Directors in high-profile cases involving creative rights, film credits, and residuals. She skillfully negotiated multimillion-dollar settlements with studios and networks, protecting her clients’ rights and securing valuable outcomes.
Later, as Hollywood Counsel and Litigation Supervisor for the Screen Actors Guild, Pamela managed a legal team, developing innovative strategies that expanded the Guild's residual collections from $1.2 million to $5.7 million annually. Her legal prowess spans cases on actor compensation, performance reuse, and meal penalties, positioning her as an influential figure in entertainment law.
Academic Leadership and Industry Insight
In addition to her role at USC Gould School of Law, Pamela has taught numerous Entertainment and Labor Law courses at Pepperdine Law School, where she served as an Adjunct Professor and Moot Court Judge. Her influence extends to thought leadership, as seen in her co-authored article on runaway production, published in the Loyola Entertainment Law Review and entered into the Congressional Record.
Pamela’s experience includes moderating panels on critical topics, such as “Strike: The Legal Weapon of Last Resort” and “The Digital Millennium Copyright Act: You Have to Pay to Play,” for the Los Angeles County Bar Association. Her industry insights provide a vital foundation for current and future legal professionals.
Community Service and Public Leadership
Elected to the Malibu City Council in 2004 and re-elected in 2008, Pamela became one of the youngest council members, later serving as Mayor, Mayor Pro Tem, and City Councilmember until 2012. During her tenure, she focused on public safety, environmental protection, fiscal responsibility, and community enrichment:
• Innovated a revenue-sharing lease agreement, generating millions in revenue for Malibu.
• Championed the plastic bag ban to protect Malibu’s marine life, setting a precedent followed by other communities.
• Founded the Malibu Task Force on Homelessness, applying a holistic approach to address homelessness.
• Spearheaded initiatives to secure Malibu’s first City Hall, create Bluffs and Legacy Parks, and ban beach smoking in Malibu.
Her leadership extended beyond Malibu through her roles as Commissioner for the Los Angeles County Library and as a board member for Childhelp USA, a national nonprofit dedicated to preventing child abuse.

Pamela’s dedication to her community and clients has earned her numerous accolades, including the Malibu Dolphin Award and the Malibu Charitable Foundation Hero and Citizen of the Year award for her courageous leadership, particularly during the Woolsey Fire.

Pamela holds a J.D. from the University of Maryland School of Law, a B.A. from the University of California, San Diego, and a Teaching Certificate in Higher Education Pedagogy from Harvard’s Derek Bok Center for Teaching and Learning. Beyond her professional life, Pamela finds joy in nature, practicing hot yoga, gardening, and surfing Malibu’s iconic waves.
